Copacabana vender tilbage til Kongens Nytorv: Verdenseliten i footvolley indtager København
Fra 31. juli til 2. august forvandler Kongens Nytorv sig til en miniudgave af Copacabana, når Footvolley League of Champions fylder torvet med sand, sport i verdensklasse, strandstole, musik og sommerstemning.
Efter sidste års succes vender topturneringen i den brasilianskfødte sport tilbage til København, når verdens bedste spillere og Europas største klubber som Hertha BSC, SS Lazio, Copenhagen Footvolley, Barcelona og Porto dyster i sandet.
Arrangementet er gratis for alle og samler både professionelle, elite amatører, nysgerrige københavnere og turister til tre dage med sport og sommerstemning.
Footvolley i verdensklasse
Footvolley kombinerer fodboldens teknik med beachvolleys netspil. Bolden må ikke berøres med hænder og arme, kun fødder, hoved, bryst og lår. Det skaber et eksplosivt og publikumsvenligt spil fyldt med akrobatiske detaljer og spektakulære dueller, når spillerne fx smasher til bolden med fødderne i 2,5 meter højde om en samlet præmiesum på 40.000 DKK.
“Sidste år viste vi, at footvolley kan noget helt særligt i København. Det er både sport på højt internationalt niveau og en åben fest, hvor folk stopper op, bliver nysgerrige og får lyst til at være med. I år bygger vi videre på den energi og forvandler igen Kongens Nytorv til et lille stykke Copacabana,” siger Morten Levinsen, turneringsansvarlig og bestyrelsesformand i Copenhagen Footvolley.

Copacabana Returns to Kongens Nytorv: The World’s Best Footvolley Players Take Over Copenhagen
From July 31 to August 2, Kongens Nytorv will be transformed into a miniature version of Copacabana as the Footvolley League of Champions fills the square with sand, world-class sport, beach chairs, music, and summer vibes.
Following last year’s success, the premier tournament in the Brazilian-inspired sport returns to Copenhagen, bringing together the world’s best players and Europe’s biggest clubs, including Hertha BSC, SS Lazio, Copenhagen Footvolley, Barcelona, and Porto, to compete in the sand.
The event is free to attend and brings together professionals, elite amateurs, curious Copenhagen residents, and tourists for three days of sport and summer atmosphere.
World-Class Footvolley
Footvolley combines the technical skills of football with the net play of beach volleyball. Players are not allowed to touch the ball with their hands only their feet, head, chest, and thighs may be used. The result is an explosive and spectator-friendly sport filled with acrobatic plays and spectacular rallies, as players smash the ball with their feet at heights of up to 2.5 metres while competing for a total prize pool of DKK 40,000.
“Last year, we showed that footvolley has something truly special to offer Copenhagen. It is both a sport at a high international level and an open celebration where people stop, become curious, and want to join in. This year, we are building on that energy and once again transforming Kongens Nytorv into a small piece of Copacabana,” says Morten Levinsen, Tournament Director and Chairman of Copenhagen Footvolley.
