About this Event
Food Safety Training for Packing House Managers
Join us at the N.C. Cooperative Extension | Henderson County Center for a food safety training designed specifically for those working in fresh fruit and vegetable packing houses. We will use the curriculum "Keeping Apple Safe in the Packing house" developed at Pennsylvania State University which consists of videos filmed in apple packing houses to illustrate food safety practices and discuss solutions to different food safety issues.
Topics to be covered include: Foundations of produce safety, common routes of contamination, enhancing employee training programs, strenghtening cleaning and sanitation programs and packing house maintenance during the off season. Lunch will be provided.
We encourage you to bring your food safety plan and use this session as a time to review your existing food safety program.
A certificate will be provided to all attendees at the end of the workshop.
Please register by April 17, 2026.
If you have any questions please contact Elena Rogers, Area Specialized Agent - Food Safety/Fresh Produce at (828)352-2519 or Karen Blaedow at the Henderson Co. Office at (828)697-4891.
