Utilizing a screen printing gold foil technique, Le creates custom fabric patterns that blend traditional Vietnamese elements with avant-garde style through learned manual screen printing techniques.

With a curiosity for all things handmade, and a penchant for blending traditional Vietnamese elements with queer influence, Christian’s creations are a vivid tapestry of cultural homage and contemporary aesthetics that reimagine his cultural heritage.

As a Craft & Maker Resident, Le has received a free membership and free classes in screen printing and laser cutting to make his fabric sewing patterns and brooch designs, material assistance, and Adobe software classes to create, prep and produce his stencils, in further support of his educational interests to learn a new technology process.

Christian, an artist deeply inspired by the cultural tapestry of Vietnam, embarked on this project to merge the meticulous craftsmanship of the Nguyễn Dynasty with the contemporary screen printing methods learned at TXRX. By doing so, he breathes new life into the decorative motifs that have historically been woven or embroidered into Vietnamese traditional garments.

The exhibition features a diverse array of fashion pieces that cater to various tastes and preferences:

• Classical Silhouettes: These pieces pay homage to timeless designs, capturing the essence of traditional Vietnamese attire while incorporating modern screen printing embellishments.
• Wedding Attire: Celebrating the grandeur and elegance of Vietnamese wedding customs, these garments are adorned with intricate motifs that symbolize prosperity and happiness.
• Fashion Forward Pieces: Pushing the boundaries of traditional fashion, these pieces incorporate avant-garde designs and innovative materials, offering a fresh perspective on Vietnamese cultural attire.
