State Representative Jolanda “Jo” Jones is inviting volunteers to join her team for the Annual Acres Homes Juneteenth Parade, one of Houston’s proud community traditions honoring freedom, Black history, culture, unity, and neighborhood pride.
This is a volunteer opportunity for people who want to show up with purpose, help represent District 147 with professionalism, and stand with the Acres Homes community during a powerful Juneteenth celebration. Volunteers will help support parade participation, greet community members, assist with team coordination, and bring positive energy as we celebrate this important day together.
This is not just about walking in a parade. It is about honoring the legacy of Juneteenth, celebrating the strength of Acres Homes, and showing our community that public service still means being present, visible, and connected to the people.

Who Should Volunteer
We are looking for volunteers who are ready to show up on time, bring good energy, follow staff instructions, and help represent the office with pride.
Volunteers may assist with:
• Parade team support
• Community greetings
• Walking with Team Jones
• Helping keep the group together
• Supporting the vehicle and parade presence
• Sharing positive energy with families and residents
• Representing District 147 with professionalism
What To Wear And Bring
Please dress comfortably and respectfully for outdoor parade participation. Juneteenth colors are encouraged, including red, black, green, gold, and white.
Please bring:
• Comfortable walking shoes
• Water
• Sunscreen
• A hat or sunglasses
• Juneteenth colors or festive accessories
• A positive attitude
• Anything needed to safely stay cool outdoors
Volunteer Expectations
All volunteers must arrive during the meet up window from 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM. Parade logistics, lineup placement, and final staging instructions may be updated as more information is received from the parade committee. The official parade entry has been submitted and final packet details are still pending from organizers.
Volunteers are expected to follow staff instructions, remain with the group, be respectful to the community, and help create a welcoming and professional presence for State Representative Jolanda Jones.
Why This Matters
The Acres Homes Juneteenth Parade is a major cultural and community celebration rooted in freedom, history, family, and neighborhood pride. Participation shows support for one of Houston’s historic communities and honors a tradition that continues to bring families, civic leaders, churches, schools, and neighborhood organizations together.
