About this Event

In Galbadon’s workshop, “Flora, Fauna, & Spiritual and Indigenous Voice in Urban Lettering,” participants will be invited to create a vibrant, one-of-a-kind fabric patch using silkscreened imagery drawn from the artist’s original work rooted in flora, fauna, and the spirit world.

Rooted in her Indigenous Choctaw heritage, Galbadon’s practice explores the intersection of identity, memory, and contemporary urban life. Her imagery, featuring flora, fauna, and spiritual iconography, draws from desert landscapes, ancestral symbolism, and personal narrative to form a visual language grounded in continuity, adaptation, and presence.

Guided by Galbadon’s approach to art as a form of translation, bridging past and present, interior and collective experience, participants are encouraged to reflect on how stories are carried, reshaped, and expressed in new contexts. Whether the patch emerges as a quiet personal contemplation, or a bold statement, the process holds space for both softness and strength.

This is a free, drop-in program open to all ages, with the request that individuals under 16 be accompanied by an adult. Registration is recommended to ensure availability of supplies.
