Flameworking Hollow Forms
About this Event
Workshops is an event created to give back to yourself. It’s a chance to set apart time and feed your inner creative soul through hands-on activities. It’s all tied together with a social aspect to create a space for knowledge sharing and get to know our neighbors.
Workshop Details:
This 4 week flamework course is for beginners who already have some hollow working experience (even just one day is enough) and wish to tighten up their color application and shaping skills in flameworking borosilicate. Every week will involved some form of blowing.
Week 1 will cover tubing breakdown, making prep, and basic production pipeline theory.
Week 2 consists entirely of color application including spin trail, dotwork and encasement. This session will concentrate on ensuring even application and elimination of stress in the glass.
Week 3 will consist of bottle shaping and finishing, incorporating theory learned in the first two classes to produce consistent, repeatable results.
Week 4 will be an exploration into shapes outside of the bottle from the previous week.
Students are encouraged to find an existing functional shape and try to reproduce it in this class. Simple dry pipes encouraged!
