After a long-awaited return of nearly one year, Jondo Flamenco returns to Club Fox for a very special evening devoted to the raw emotion, depth and beauty of authentic flamenco.
On Sunday, September 13, 2026 at 7:00 PM, experience flamenco the way it is meant to be experienced: live, intimate and spontaneous — where cante, guitar and dance come together in a musical conversation that can never be repeated exactly the same way twice.
CRISTO CORTÉS — CANTE | DIRECT FROM FRANCE
At the heart of this special evening is internationally acclaimed flamenco singer Cristo Cortés, appearing direct from France.
Born in Marseille into a family of flamenco singers with roots in Almería, Andalusia, Cortés has built an international career performing throughout Europe, Spain, the United States, Canada, Japan and beyond. Recognized as one of France's leading flamenco cantaores, he is admired for his unmistakable vocal timbre, profound knowledge of cante and commanding understanding of the relationship between singing, guitar and dance.
Throughout his career, Cortés has worked alongside distinguished flamenco artists including Andrés Marín, Joaquín Grilo, La Farruca, José Galván, Fuensanta La Moneta, Carmen Ledesma and many others, and has shared programs with legendary figures of flamenco including La Paquera de Jerez.
His appearance at Club Fox offers Bay Area audiences a rare opportunity to experience a cantaor deeply connected to the traditions, language and emotional intensity of flamenco.
PIROUZ DE CASPIO — CANTE
Joining Cristo Cortés on cante is the Bay Area's own Pirouz de Caspio — flamenco singer, guitarist, composer and founder of Jondo Flamenco — whose relationship with flamenco spans more than two decades.
Over the past year and continuing today, Pirouz has dedicated himself intensely to the creation and recording of his first album, collaborating directly with some of the most accomplished and respected flamenco musicians in Spain.
The project has brought him together with an extraordinary roster of artists at the highest levels of contemporary flamenco, including Paquete (Juan José Suárez), Jesús de Rosario, Antonio Rey, Carlos de Jacoba, David Cerreduela, Manuel Parrilla, Diego Amaya, PTT, and others.
The project has also involved close work with distinguished flamenco composers and songwriters, most notably Juan Antonio Salazar, one of the most respected and prolific composers in modern flamenco.
Salazar has written and composed for some of the most important voices in the history of the genre, including the legendary Camarón de la Isla, as well as Diego El Cigala, Enrique Morente, José Mercé, and many other leading Spanish artists. His remarkable gift for melody and composition has earned him recognition within flamenco circles as the “Mozart of Flamenco.”
Working directly with Salazar, alongside other highly respected composers from Spain, has become an important part of Pirouz's continuing artistic development and the creation of his forthcoming debut album.
These collaborations are not simply guest appearances, but part of an ongoing creative process through which Pirouz has immersed himself in writing, arranging and recording original music with musicians and composers deeply rooted in the tradition and evolution of flamenco.
Now nearing completion after more than a year of intensive work and collaboration between the United States and Spain, Pirouz de Caspio's first album is anticipated for release in late 2026 or early 2027.
Pirouz's connection to flamenco, however, extends well beyond his own performing and recording career. Through Jondo Flamenco and his work as a presenter, he has spent years bringing important flamenco artists to audiences in North America — including the extraordinary privilege of presenting the legendary Paco de Lucía in Vancouver and Victoria during the maestro's final North American tour.
His return to the Club Fox stage therefore comes at a particularly exciting moment in a much larger artistic journey: from presenting the masters of flamenco, to more than two decades devoted to the art, to now creating and recording alongside some of the very musicians and composers who represent flamenco at its highest level in Spain today.
DAVID McLEAN — FLAMENCO GUITAR
Carrying the musical foundation of the evening will be acclaimed Bay Area flamenco guitarist and composer David McLean.
A highly respected accompanist and soloist, McLean performs with AguaClara Flamenco and has collaborated with an extensive roster of flamenco artists from Spain and around the world. His performances have taken him to stages including the War Memorial Opera House, Palace of Fine Arts, Herbst Theatre, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and Yoshi's, among many others.
For this performance, David's guitar will provide the essential musical connection between cante and baile — responding to the singers, driving the compás and creating the space in which the dancers and singers can communicate and improvise.
CAROLA ZERTUCHE — BAILE
Born in Torreón, Mexico, Carola Zertuche is an internationally experienced flamenco dancer, choreographer, and Artistic Director of Theatre Flamenco of San Francisco, one of the longest running flamenco dance companies in the United States.
Zertuche began her professional career at Mexico City’s renowned Tablao Mesón de Triana, where she studied with Manolo Vargas and Pilar Rioja before continuing her training in Spain with celebrated artists including Ciro, Belén Maya, Andrés Marín, Israel Galván, and Pedro Azorín.
Throughout her career, she has performed and toured across the United States, Mexico, South America, Canada, and the Middle East, appearing at prestigious venues including The Joyce Theater in New York and Jacob’s Pillow in Massachusetts. She has collaborated with an impressive roster of flamenco artists including Andrés Marín, Carmen Ledesma, Pastora Galván, Adela Campallo, Jesús Carmona, and Nino de Los Reyes.
As Artistic Director of Theatre Flamenco, Zertuche has become an important presence in the Bay Area flamenco community, creating work that remains deeply connected to flamenco tradition while embracing contemporary artistic expression. In 2017, she made her San Francisco Opera debut as choreographer for La Traviata.
We are delighted to welcome Carola Zertuche to Entre Amigos for this special evening of flamenco.
LOURDES RODRÍGUEZ & SPECIAL GUESTS — BAILE
Carola will be joined by longtime Bay Area flamenco dancer Lourdes Rodríguez, bringing another distinctive artistic voice and presence to the stage.
And there is more.
Additional special guest dancers will be revealed as a surprise, making this an evening whose complete artistic lineup will only fully unfold when the lights come up at Club Fox.

This is not flamenco recreated from a recording.
It is a cuadro flamenco — singers, guitarist and dancers listening to one another, responding to one another, challenging one another and creating in the moment.
The cry of the cante.
The tension of a single guitar.
The golpe of a dancer's foot against the stage.
The silence before the next phrase.
And the compás that holds everything together.
That element of risk, communication and spontaneity is at the very heart of flamenco. What happens on this stage will belong to that particular night, those particular artists and the audience sharing the experience with them.
