Five Points Community Garden Work Day

Winter is a busy time as we prepare for our 2025 growing season (although we have lots of winter greens thriving now). Tasks include preparing soil, transplanting trees and pollinator plants, finishing our compost center and general clean up and maintenance.

Our new location is 203 Forsyth St. SW (it's directly across the Greyhound station). Which is next to the Garnett MARTA station.

WEATHER - if heavy rain is in the forecast, an email will be sent that morning IF cancelled. Please check your email before coming.

PARKING - MARTA is the easiest way to get here - take it to the Garnett Station - if you drive - SUNDAY has FREE 'ON STREET' parking on Garnett St. SW - do not parking in the surface parking lot. Garnett St. is just north of our new space (look at the map on our listing). Ignore anyone coming up to you saying you have to pay!

CHECKING IN: Find Jim to check in (and to check out). EVERYONE needs to check and sign in for liability reasons (and we can add your or your guest if you don't show up in the listing). We’ve got work gloves if you didn't bring your own. Let me know if you've got gardening or construction experience - and/or you're with a group (so I can put you together on one project). NOTE: if you have any empty plastic gallon milk/water jugs - please bring them to use in our winter sowing project!

COMMUNITY SERVICE: Make sure you show up on time and that you check in and out. You're also welcome to come in a half hour early (9:30am) to help me open the garden then stay a half hour to close up to get more community service hours.

END OF WORK SESSION:
- If you planted/transplanted any plants, make sure they are watered
- Return gloves to be washed (Don’t throw away the work gloves).
- Return all equipment to our work cart (and look around the garden to check if anyone else has left anything behind)
- Pose for group picture before we wrap up (we post on our social media)
