About this Event
The FIU Jazz Ensemble is a premier performing group within the Jazz Program at Florida International University’s Wertheim School of Music, dedicated to the study and performance of jazz at the highest level. Comprised of outstanding student musicians, the ensemble explores a wide range of repertoire from classic large ensemble jazz literature to contemporary compositions, while emphasizing improvisation, stylistic versatility, and ensemble precision.
Directed by Dr. Aldo Salvent, the group regularly performs on and off campus, collaborates with guest artists, and provides students with professional-level experience in both live performance and recording settings. The ensemble has also recorded with major artists, including multi–Grammy Award winner Jon Secada.
