Firework Photography Workshop

Your instructor will will guide through the techniques and equipment used to Photograph fireworks using lecture, sample photographs and classroom demonstrations and when possible, outdoor demonstrations with real fireworks (dependent on the class location, time of day, it has to be dark to demonstrate fireworks and weather). This workshop begins with a lecture including sample fireworks photos, best camera settings and equipment is needed to capture great photos of fireworks. Next the instructor will demonstrate the recommended equipment and explain the recommended camera settings.

Throughout this workshop your instructor will demonstrate various aspects of fireworks photography. As with all our classes and workshops the instructor will answer question during and after the workshop.

Course Topics Include:

• Classroom demonstrations.
• Recommended camera settings for fireworks Photography.
• Fireworks Photography equipment and demonstrations of how to use it.
• Best exposure settings for fireworks Photography, including an explanation of why each works.
• Methods to achieve correct focus, many if not most camera auto-focus system struggle with fireworks and often cannot focus until after the individual firework has exploded.
• When possible, students will have the chance to photograph real fireworks with help from the instructor.

Course Requirements: There are no requirements for attending this workshop but please read the following.

• A camera and lens are NOT required. Student should be aware that this workshop is geared toward SLR, dSLR and mirrorless cameras . No information for cell phone cameras is covered in this workshop.
• Students are encouraged to bring their camera and lens.
• Students who have a tripod, remote shutter release and/or external flash are welcome to bring as well. Time permitting, the instructor field questions about your specific equipment.
• A basic knowledge of Exposure, Auto and manual Focus as well as Depth of Field is helpful but not required.
