This October gather around the fire and let us remind you of what it was to be afraid of the dark.

Don’t build the fire too high, sing too loud or laugh too heartily, because he’s out there and he’s hungry. The award-winning circus company Nikki & JD in collaboration with Lost Dog create an outdoor show that combines circus, dance, theatre and live music to re-enact the original horror story- the one about the monster, and the monster’s mother, and the dragon and the hero and the severed limbs.

Dark, comic and physically dangerous this is a modern re-telling of that ancient epic, Beowulf.

All children should be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Travelling to Buckingham

Please travel by sustainable means, E.g. cycling, walking, or via public transport, if possible. If traveling by car, please travel with others you know to decrease the number of cars making the journey and to lessen the impact on the local area and the planet.

Parking is available

Be prepared for an outdoor performance!

Please dress for the weather.

There will be very limited seating. Please bring portable chairs/ blankets.

You may bring a picnic to the event, please recycle and dispose of all litter.

Access Information

We welcome all Disabled people to the performance. The performance is family friendly, highly visual. comidic and includes fire.

• The performance will be held on grass. There is level access from the pathway to the performance site for wheelchair users.
• The pathway is accesible for wheelchair users
• Accessible Toilet facilities are located inside the church adjacent to the performance site.
• There is a viewing area for Disabled audience members. Please speak to a steward, when you arrive and we will direct you.

Fireside Stories is a celebration of Buckinghamshire's outstanding landscapes, spaces and places, Buckinghamshire Culture are presenting Nikki, JD & Lost Dog's Fireside in three locations across the county; Downley Common (Oct12), Buckingham Parish Church Grounds (Oct 28) and Wendover Woods (Oct 29 )

In each location, we are working with writers and storytellers, local groups, schools and organisations to bring to explore the themes of Beowulf.
