About this Event
Most companies have lawyers to guide them. Most employees don’t. No one teaches us about our rights before we enter the working world, so even senior professionals don’t understand their workplace rights or how to skillfully invoke them.
Employment lawyers Julia Stephanides and Hillary Benham-Baker want to change this. They teach workshops and classes to give employees the knowledge, tools, and skills to navigate challenging work situations. On May 8, they will be sharing what you need to know if you’re an employee dealing with a health issue or disability.
Experiencing health issues can be extremely isolating and overwhelming, especially when you’re worried about getting fired or having to leave your job. Julia and Hillary will provide a safe and supportive space for you to learn about your options and rights, and to connect with other professionals in similar situations. Among other things, Julia and Hillary will discuss taking medical leave, getting paid while you’re off work, and getting reasonable accommodations to make your job work for you. They will also offer guidance on how to respond if your rights are violated.
This will be an interactive event where discussion and questions are welcome.
Spread the word and bring your friends!
