Join the Final Act Ensemble (FAE) as they honor the 250th anniversary of American Independence with a full-length tribute to World War II, “Broadcasting to the Troops 1943.” It’s a mixture of nostalgia, comedy, and songs that soldiers and folks at home would have heard on the radio during the war.
Act One features an Iowa farm family reading a letter from their son at the front. Next, Ellery Queen and friends are bumped from a troop train and re-booked on a circus train only to be faced with a double murder! To lighten things up a bit, there’s zany comedy from George Burns and Gracie Allen.
Act Two starts with a chilling preview of The Shadow followed by a parody of ’40s film noir moves, The Casablancan Maltese Goldfinch. The show ends with comedy from Fibber McGee and Molly. This time, the couple is collecting scrap for the war effort and babysitting a soldier’s horse while he’s away at the front. Naturally, things get complicated!
All FAE shows feature songs, live sound effects, and actual period scripts or scripts written in imitation of actual shows. Join in the fun and honor America’s 250th Anniversary.
The Final Act Ensemble is a troupe of performers ages 60 and older that present classic and original radio plays, including commercials and live and recorded sound effects.
