Film Showing-Dakota 38
About this Event
In recognition of American Indian Heritage Month we present the award-winning film Dakota 38. It chronicles the 2009 healing ride, over 330 miles in the dead of winter, undertaken by members of the Dakota people to remember and honor 38 ancestors who died in a mass execution on December 26, 1862 in Mankato, MN. It is a spiritual journey by horse from Lower Brule, S.D. to Mankato- covering the blizzards they endured, the Native and Non-Native communities that housed and fed them along the way "and the dark history they are beginning to wipe away.".
