Join us for an evening of watching, reflecting, and engaging in meaningful dialogue around race, identity, and lived experiences. Together, we’ll unpack themes from the screen and connect them to the world around us—exploring how each of us can take action within our own spheres of influence. This next screening is brought to you by The Indianapolis Foundation Forward Movement Initiative.
Get ready for the next Race on Film experience—where storytelling meets real conversation and community action. For those of you who were unable to attend our first film for this series, that’s okay. We missed you and invite you to enjoy the beautiful photo and a recap of the powerful atmosphere we shared below.
During the evening, we reflected on the concept of “weathering," introduced by Dr. Arline Geronimus in her book by the same name, which helps us understand the real, physical impact of chronic stress, particularly the stress of racism, on the body over time.
For many women, especially women of color, this is not theoretical. It is a lived experience. Skylark invited us to sit with that truth while also asking us to consider what it means to move forward — not just individually, but together.
After our powerful screening of Skylark, we’re continuing the journey… but this time, we’re moving from the big screen to a small screen with a surprise episodic feature you won’t want to miss.
