About this Event

Please join us Saturday, March 28, 7pm for a cozy night of diary films programmed by FILM DIARY NYC as a part of this year’s festival FILM DIARY 4: GO TO THE MOUNTAINS AND PRAY.

FILM DIARY NYC is a biennial festival of experimental, autobiographical films that capture the personal history and daily experiences of the filmmaker. The 4th edition, Go to the Mountains and Pray, features 170 new works by a diverse array of artists from across the world.

This program features films by Jacob Kessler, Dana Dawud, Alex Hrytseich, and Allen Golder-Carpenter.

A lone passenger is reflected in the windows of a train crawling through layers of textures towards Minsk. During his absence, the city has not changed: all the streets are frozen, long-gone voices can be heard in the empty rooms and around the corner you can find yourself in a video game from your childhood.

Inspired by the film Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance, Sojourn weaves together a meditation on memory, transformation, and the instability of historical perspective. The film presents an unresolved attempt to hold onto what history often pushes aside—especially the lives, voices, and losses of Black communities whose stories are too often overwritten.

Total program time: 84 min

Due to the limitations of our space, there are VERY limited seats available. To secure a seat, we suggest you grab tickets in advance.

This screening is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. Accessible public bathrooms are open until 9pm; Afterwards, indoor bathrooms will be available via a short ramp and 29” doorways. This is a mask-recommended event. Masks and earplugs can be provided free of charge.

If you require further financial or physical accommodation, please email [email protected].
