About this Event
Film as Research/ Practice-Based Research Through Film with Dr Sammy Holden
Join us for a conversation with Dr Sammy Holden, University Practitioner in Film at the University of Huddersfield, exploring how film can open up new ways of thinking about practice-based research, lived experience and ethical representation.
Whether you are interested in film, creative practice, research methods, or questions of representation and alternative forms of knowledge-making, this event offers an opportunity to reflect on the role of film in research and practice.
Dr Sammy Holden is a University Practitioner in Film at the University of Huddersfield and a graduate of Edge Hill University. Their practice as research PhD entitled "Trans, Camera, Action: transgender and non-binary support through oppositional and alternative filmmaking practice" involved the creation of six short films in analogue and digital formats.
They are a filmmaker, film programmer, artist and educator, as well as an Impact Producer with Reclaim The Frame for the North West. Reclaim The Frame is a charity that supports filmmakers and audiences of marginalised and minoritised identities.
