was unofficially formed during the pandemic (meeting and singing online and in parks!) and then fully established in February 2023 by Filament Theatre Company to uniquely bring together professional and community singers in a welcoming and fun musical environment that promotes movement, improvisation and singing inspired by a range of material and Filament Theatre's own work. The choir is led by Filament’s composer and musical director, Osnat Schmool. They have performed as part of ‘Get Singing’ at Tower of London, with Woven Gold at Southbank Centre as part of Refugee Week 2023, at UCL East’s new campus and with Steve Pretty as part of ‘On the Origin of the Pieces’ at Wilton’s Music Hall in January 2024.
are a non auditioned community group who rehearse on Sundays on Upper Street, Islington. Led by Ryan O’Riordan, the group juggle a mix of infectious ear worms right up to large complex pieces in a variety of languages and traditions. As a choir, we pride ourselves on being multi-generational and accepting of all the diversity and vibrancy London has to offer. As a choir we are actively supporting positive change in islington. Our particular cause that we fund raise for regularly is the Islington Centre for Refugees & Migrants, who support some of the most vulnerable members of the community. The help displaced people to stay housed, lessons in English and give a sense of community and family to those who are so far from home. We will be performing at the Sheffield Street Choirs Festival 2024 as part of a massed sing of over 900 singers.
