Figure It Out is a hands-on series where kids create, build, make, experiment, and — yes — figure things out.
About this Event

Figure it Out!

Each six-week cohort takes on a different world (art, engineering, money, storytelling, nature), but they all grow the same muscles: creative problem-solving, critical thinking, the nerve to try something, fail, and try again better. The confidence that comes from actually making something is the kind that sticks.

The five cohorts:

Figure It Out: Studio — Art (9/17/26-10/22/26)

Explore real artistic processes, movements, and ways of making — and learn to critique like an artist. We stretchwhat we think is possible and make new possibilities. For kids who love to create and kids who think they “can't draw” alike.

Figure It Out: Build — Engineering (10/2926-12/10/26 off the week of Thanksgiving)

Build contraptions and see the principles in action — levers, tension, motion, structure — with your hands, not a textbook. Break things, fix things, and find out why they work.

Figure It Out: Worth — money & value (1/7/27-2/11/27)

What makes something valuable? What does it take to earn it, save it, manage it? Kids explore money smarts for all ages — anchored by a barter project that runs the whole cohort, where a single small object goes on a trading journey to see how far its value can travel.

Figure It Out: Story — Storytelling (2/18/27-4/1/27 off the week of 3/26)

Build and tell stories across different forms. How does a story actually work — and how do you shape one that lands? For kids bursting with ideas and kids still finding their voice.

Figure It Out: Wild — Nature ((4/8/27-5/14/27)

Get outside and into it: observing the natural world, asking real questions, and discovering the ingenious ways living things solve problems. Hands-on, curious, and a little muddy.
