Ghost stories made it famous. History tells the real story.
Long before Waverly Hills became known for ghosts and legends, it was a place where thousands of people faced the very real threat of tuberculosis. From 1910 to 1961, patients came seeking treatment while doctors and nurses searched for better ways to fight a disease that medicine was still struggling to understand.
Dr. Lynn Pohl of The Filson Historical Society takes you inside life at Waverly Hills, sharing the stories of the patients, staff, and supporters who experienced its years as a working sanatorium. Explore the treatments, routines, challenges, and changing medical ideas that shaped this famous Kentucky landmark—and discover the human history behind the legend.
