KPBS’ video podcast “Stripper Energy” brings to life the story of how Stripper/Activist/Local Business Owner Kata Pierce-Morgan and others fought against stereotypes, impacted workers rights, and paved a way for empowering the powerless.
Join KPBS’ Beth Accomando for a special event featuring never-before-seen clips from the video podcast. Hear directly from Kata about her experiences, discover the lasting impacts of Kata's work, and find parallels to today’s marginalized communities. There will be opportunities for audience members to engage in the conversation, ask questions, and share insights.

About Kata Pierce-Morgan
Kata Pierce-Morgan is the owner of Les Girls Theater, a former stripper, and an award-winning poet and artist. Kata majored in Art History at UCLA and did graduate work in special education and psychology. For the past decade she has been creating stage shows for San Diego International Fringe Festival as a means of processing her personal trauma and advocating for not being a silent bystander when you witness abuse, harassment, or any infringement of someone's civil rights.
About Beth Accomando
Beth Accomando began working for KPBS in 1987 as a film critic. Now she covers arts and culture, often shooting and editing her own features. Her coverage includes everything from opera and Shakespeare to zombies and luchadores. She has won both an Inkpot Award and The Bob Clampett Humanitarian Award at Comic-Con.

- Although masking is not required, you are welcome to wear a facial covering at your discretion, including times when you cannot maintain a comfortable social distance or when indoors. If you would like a facial covering, one will be made available at ou
r check-in table.
- KPBS staff will routinely clean and disinfect the check-in area and other hi-touch surface areas. Hand sanitizer will be available for all to use at the check-in table.
- If you test positive for COVID-19 up to 14 days following the event, please notify our team as soon as possible.
