Two cultures. One circle. Leave lighter. / Dos culturas. Un círculo. Sal más ligera.
About this Event

Joint Sanctuary is an in-person quarterly gathering (4x/year) that brings together Black Women’s Sanctuary and Santuario Latino para Mujeres in one shared, healing-centered space. Different languages and roots—many shared pressures: caregiving load, discrimination, economic stress, isolation, and the expectation to stay “strong.”

This isn’t a panel. It’s a guided experience designed to help you exhale, connect across cultures, and leave more grounded—with community, reflection, and a creative or movement-based practice each quarter.

What to expect
  • Warm welcome + grounding (arrive as you are)
  • Guided circle conversation (sharing is optional; listening counts)
  • Cross-cultural connection and mutual learning (English/Spanish space)
  • A closing that helps you leave lighter—not cracked open

2026 Quarterly themes
  1. Women’s History Month: Body Wisdom + Balance
Guided conversation + movement exploring the menstrual cycle and perimenopause—welcoming balance and honoring hormonal shifts.
  2. Food, Culture & Care (with Fresh Approach)
Workshop + cooking demo on Health at Every Size, Intuitive Eating, and Mindful Eating.
  3. Bloom Under the Sun: August Wellness Circle
Yoga flow, breathwork, stretching, and a gratitude walk.
  4. The Art of Healing with Love
Testimonies from both sanctuaries (healing through DV and cancer support) followed by painting flowers with intention tied to breast cancer awareness.

Community agreements

Confidentiality, respect, non-judgment, and speaking from “I.” This is a supportive community space—not therapy or crisis care.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
