Keep your eyes (and ears!) open… you might just spot some of the amazing species we’ve been talking about in the wild!
This field session is a great opportunity to experience Atlanta’s urban forest up close! We will have the chance to observe local wildlife and get inspiration for opportunities to support trees and animals in our own yards or neighborhood greenspace.
About the instructors:
Amanda Dahlgren is the Education Coordinator and Lab Manager for The Amphibian Foundation. She is a certified Master Herpetologist, Southeastern Master Herpetologist, and Level 1 Venomous Snake Handler. She is passionate about ecological education and outreach, especially in regards to animals typically considered “gross” or “scary”.
Savannah Tello is Trees Atlanta’s Forest Restoration Coordinator and an ISA-certified Arborist. She manages habitat restoration including invasive plant removal at 18 green spaces in Atlanta and East Point. Savannah hosts Trees Atlanta’s Forest Stewardship Training Program every October to educate the public about how to restore their local greenspaces. Before working in forests, Sav spent two years specializing in meadow habitat restoration for Trees Atlanta. Savannah grew up in Fayetteville, GA and got her degree in Biology with a concentration in Environmental Science from Georgia Tech.
