Festive Lino Greetings Cards

WHAT WILL I GET FROM THIS WORKSHOP?

You will cut a design from lino and print a collection of festive greetings cards ready to send in time for Christmas. Mulled wine and mince pies are provided, as well as festive tunes!

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

In this workshop you will be introduced to the process of lino printing – a relief printing process that allow you to make many prints of one design. You can bring your own design to work from, or templates and ideas will be provided. All materials are provided, as well as information about how you can continue the process at home if you want to keep printing.

WORKSHOP DATES

This workshop is taking place on both Saturday 30th November and Sunday 1st December. Both workshops are the same, so you only need to book on to one.

WHO IS MY TUTOR?

Short & Few runs creative workshops in Ilkley, including printmaking, alternative photography and bookmaking. It is run by Zoe, a qualified and experienced art tutor currently teaching at a specialist arts university in Leeds. Her background is in graphic design and typography, but over the years she haa developed a deep interest in process-driven arts and hands-on analogue practices. She is a big believer in learning by doing and making mistakes as a form of enquiry, an ethos which underpins my teaching. She loves the buzz of seeing what people make when they least expect it, and inspiring people to develop a curiosity for what the arts can be about.

WHERE IS THE WORKSHOP HELD?

This workshop takes place in a wooden cabin in Short & Few's garden in Ben Rhydding, Ilkey (LS29) - a purpose built creative space for workshops and relaxing. Details about the location will be provided on booking.

WHO IS THE WORKSHOP FOR? WHAT DO I NEED TO CONSIDER?

There is no minimum ability expected - this workshop is suitable for complete beginners and also those with experience. The aim is make and takeaway your own personalised greetings cards, ready to send for Christmas, and everyone will be supported fully in the process. This workshop is for 18+ and mulled wine and mice pies will be provided. Do let me know if you have any dietary requirements that need catering for (e.g. alcohol free, dairy free).

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

Everything is provided, but if you have ideas about what you want to make, please feel free to bring any sketchbooks, doodles or pictures to use as reference.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE

You will be provided with the full address on booking, and a contact address to send your dietary requirements to if applicable. There is plenty of on-street parking; and public transport is close by via the X84 bus and both Ilkley and Ben Rhydding train stations.

Note that the workshop space for this event is not wheel chair accessible. This is an 18+ event so please bear this in mind when booking.
