The Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols is a service of Christian worship traditionally celebrated on or near Christmas Eve in England - we hope you will join us for the Portsmouth version coordinated by Dr. Stanley Workman and featuring the Second Pres Chancel Choir and friends accompanied by organ and a full orchestra of musicians from the tri-state area.
During the service, the story of the fall of humanity, the promise of the Messiah, and the birth of Jesus is told in nine short Bible readings or lessons from Genesis, the prophetic books and the Gospels, interspersed with the singing of Christmas carols, hymns, and choir anthems.
Because of the Great Boiler Saga of 2024, we are moving the service to Cornerstone Church - 808 Offnere St, Portsmouth, OH 45662 and are grateful for their invitation.
Doors open at 6:30 pm. This worship service is free and open to the community. An offering will be taken to support special music like this.
