Headlining is Violin’t Riot!, a modern rock orchestra experience where classical meets chaos. This unique ensemble fuses the power of a live rock band with the intensity and emotion of a violin and piano, creating a thrilling concert journey through iconic music spanning generations and genres. Audiences will experience reimagined arrangements of works by Coldplay, Michael Jackson, Vivaldi, and many more.
Leading the ensemble is acclaimed violinist and fiddler Aaron Zimola, whose genre-crossing style draws from folk, jazz, rock, Celtic, Americana, and classical traditions. Throughout his career, Zimola has shared the stage with artists including G Tom Mac (Gerard McMahon), The Kamikaze Snowmen, The Barn Burners, and numerous performers across the United States. Known for his improvisational creativity, historical storytelling, and dynamic stage presence, Zimola also offers audiences a rare opportunity to hear the voice of a 1908 George W. Fisk violin. Crafted by the legendary Colorado luthier often called the "Stradivarius of the West," these remarkable instruments connect listeners to a unique chapter of American musical history.
Joining him is guitarist and composer Conner Leigh Shaw, whose music is shaped by the vast landscapes of Colorado and reflections on both personal and global transformation. Their compositions blend haunting beauty with emotional depth, creating soundscapes that feel both intimate and expansive. Shaw serves as a Professor in Music at Western Colorado University, teaching music industry, music technology, guitar, bass, and jazz studies while maintaining an active performance career throughout Colorado. Alongside Zimola, Shaw co-founded Shaw Zimola Music Company and has performed with notable artists including Neyla Pekarek and Ben Sollee.
At the piano is Peter Romero, an award-winning composer, accompanist, and performer whose works have been commissioned and performed by ensembles throughout the world. A graduate of the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in Music Theory and Composition, Romero's musical versatility spans concert halls, churches, choral ensembles, traditional Irish sessions, and contradance communities across the Front Range. His artistry brings both sophistication and warmth to every performance.
Providing the rhythmic foundation is internationally touring drummer Roman Garcia, best known for his work with the acclaimed metalcore band, Like Moths To Flames. Garcia has performed across the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, Japan, and the United Kingdom, appearing in venues ranging from intimate clubs to major arenas. With a catalog exceeding 10 million streams on Spotify and extensive studio work including projects at Fort Collins' renowned Blasting Room, Garcia brings world-class precision and explosive energy to the stage.
Rounding out the ensemble is bassist Alex Naylor, whose driving grooves and powerful stage presence help unite the group's diverse musical influences into a cohesive and unforgettable live experience.
Performed entirely in white and enhanced by the festival's signature atmosphere of light and sound, Violin’t Riot! delivers soaring violin melodies, driving rhythms, cinematic textures, and explosive musical moments that blur the boundaries between orchestra, rock concert, and immersive artistic experience.
Whether you are a fan of classical music, rock, film scores, or simply extraordinary live performance, this special concert promises an evening unlike any other.
