Check out some of the amazing felted landscapes that have already been made in our Felted Landscapes workshops. You too will learn a range of textile skills including wet felting, needle felting and hand embroidery to create a beautiful felted artwork using a selection of wonderful wool fibres; multi-coloured blends and a range of wool fibre types.Felt is a textile material made by compressing and matting together natural animal or plant fibres. Textile artist Wendy Gray will lead you through the exciting process of creating a piece of felt by laying down layers of wool to create an evocative backdrop for you design. The wool is then soaked and manipulated to bond the fibres together to create a versatile piece of fabric. Then you can embellish it with extra features and detail using needle felting and hand embroidery.
Your artwork might be influenced by landscapes, seascapes, special places, flowers and nature. It might be pictorial or abstract or follow a seasonal theme.
No previous experience in any of the skills being taught is necessary.
Suitable for absolute beginners and those looking to improve and extend their textile and artistic skills.
Classes are individually priced & include the tools to use in class and all materials, unless otherwise indicated.
Light refreshments are available throughout the day, with a break for lunch to explore the lovely cafés of Ilkley and eat out or bring something back to the workshop.
Each participant also receives a 10% off voucher to spend online.
