The Garden is going global! Join us for the second edition of this annual weekend-long film festival which will feature some of the best classic films from around the world. Running Friday, Oct. 9th-Sunday, Oct. 11th, we will be featuring works from nine different countries. Including beloved foreign classics like Godard’s WEEKEND, Ozu’s GOOD MORNING, and Murnau’s FAUST, as well as rarely screened gems like the Finnish melodrama RESTLESS BLOOD or the Senegalese road movie TOUKI BOUKI. Saturday will kick off with a can't miss screening of legendary German Filmmaker F.W. Muenau's FAUST presented with a live original score by organist Ian Fraser!
𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗲: Join us in celebrating the centenary of F.W. Murnau’s silent masterpiece FAUST. When a devastating plague descends upon his village, an aging alchemist strikes a bargain with the Devil in a desperate attempt to save his community. Granted youth and extraordinary powers by the demon Mephisto, Faust is drawn into a world of temptation and desire, which eventually leads to tragedy. Adapted from one of the towering works of German literature, this landmark of German Expressionist cinema combines groundbreaking visual effects, monumental set design and haunting imagery that would influence generations of fantasy and horror films for the next century.
