Father Ron and Friends is a New Orleans folk, blues and roots band. Drawing from the rich traditions of PeteSeeger, Woody Guthrie, Odetta, and the historic sounds and tastes of South Louisiana, the band plays everything from very traditional folk music, to contemporary songs about the Mississippi River, Marie Laveau, the Loop Garou, and those“damned roaches!”
Ron Clingenpeel, on vocals and stringed instruments, fronts this five piece band. A solid veteran of rock, zydeco, blues, and all those oldies, he melds the sounds for a unique flavor that comes from the heart of New Orleans. Add a trained operatic voice (Barbara Smith-Davis), an avid folk-rock and blues song writer (Robert Eustis), a 60s fanatic on
keys and harmonica (David Schwartz), and a long time bass player with Motown, country, reggae R & B, and jazz
background (Max Valentino), and you have a most interesting mix of talents and sounds.
Forever the Seasons is a new album released by Louisiana Red Hot Records in March 2024. Ten original songsshow the versatility of the songwriters as well as common bond in sharing a musical story. Add to that one traditional New Orleans classic and the album comes alive telling the stories of the people of the land. This is the band’s third
albumForever the Seasons reflects the band’s desire to tell stories – about people and their lives, the culture of South
Louisiana, and remembering the lost love and lovers. Not everything is serious, though, as there are hilarious songs about
drinking, sin, cockroaches, and, yes, even religion. There is something for everyone in a Father Ron and Friends
evening.
