Celebrating 153 Sauchiehall Street’s legacy of cinema and books, join us for a book talk and film screening at the iconic Waterstones building on Sauchiehall Street.
Writer Caroline Young will present a talk on her recently published book, Fashioning Hitchcock: Stories Behind the Costumes, which examinations of the contributions of costume designers to Hitchcock's illustrious film career.
Following the short talk, we will screen The 39 Steps - Alfred Hitchcock’s 1935 classic set in Scotland, about an ordinary man swept into a deadly spy plot, forcing him on a frantic journey from London to the Scottish moors to clear his name and stop a dangerous conspiracy. Blending suspense, wit, romance, and inventive twists, it’s praised for its brisk pacing, sharp direction, and the charming chemistry between Robert Donat and Madeleine Carroll, making it a must-watch for fans of thrillers.
Following this there will be a short Q&A with the costume designer.
