This one-day event brings together designers, makers, students, researchers, and innovators to explore how traditional textile knowledge and contemporary sustainability practices can shape the future of fashion.Structured as a two-part learning experience, the programme combines hands-on textile experimentation with practical sustainability tools and systemic thinking.
Participants will first engage directly with weaving techniques and traditional Greek textile practices, explore how key sustainability principles are rooted in these traditions, and prototype new garment concepts.
Building on this foundation, the second part of the programme shifts towards contemporary sustainable fashion methodologies, collaborative innovation, and actionable strategies for integrating sustainability into everyday creative practice.
Through workshops, discussions, and collaborative exercises, participants will gain both practical making experience and strategic insight into the evolving fashion ecosystem. The programme is designed not only to inspire new ideas, but also to provide participants with concrete tools, methodologies, and perspectives they can apply within their own work.
Participants will explore:
- traditional weaving techniques and textile knowledge
- zero-waste and modular design approaches
- sustainable and innovative textile materials
- systemic thinking and sustainability mapping tools
- methods for transforming sustainability ideas into actionable concepts
- collaborative approaches to regenerative fashion futures
- communication and narrative strategies for sustainable fashion initiatives
The event includes:
- the hands-on weaving and garment prototyping workshop Timeless Threads: Weaving Tradition into Tomorrow’s Fashion
- the collaborative sustainability solutions workshop Crafting the Future: From Insight into Impact
- the panel discussion Tailoring Greener Futures for Greek Fashion, featuring educators, designers, and sustainability professionals discussing the future of fashion and textile education in Greece
