Farewell Jamaica

Farewell Jamaica is a captivating and heart warming show about home, heritage, and the impact of Windrush. Written and performed by Nev Connor, this interactive solo performance follows Neville, a Jamaican veteran of World War II, as he leaves his homeland in the 1940s to help rebuild Britain, the so-called “Mother Country.” Neville’s journey — told through humour, storytelling, and music — takes audiences from the warmth of Jamaica to the chilly streets of post-war Britain, from the excitement of new opportunities to the hardships of racism and displacement. This powerful and engaging performance explores identity, belonging, and resilience, showing how heritage shapes our sense of self, while celebrating intergenerational bonds and honouring the lasting impact of Windrush communities on British society.
The performance will take place in the Rougemont Room on the 2nd floor, accessible via lift. Everyone is welcome, and the show is suitable for all ages. Tickets are £5 for library members and £7 for non-members.
Running time is approximately 60 minutes, including a short Q&A session.
