About this Event
FAMUS Focused Acute Medicine Ultrasound (FAMUS) is the point of care ultrasound standard created for Acute Medicine physicians and clinicians working at the front door to aid the management of the acutely unwell adult patient. It is endorsed by the Society for Acute Medicine and recognised by the AIM training committee as one way of achieving the mandatory AIM FAMUS competencies. Candidates should aim to attend a FAMUS-accredited course within 3 months of starting their first supervised scan, in order to complete the theory module of their training. This course has been successfully run by the Birmingham faculty for many years.

Learning Objectives:
•Understand the physics of ultrasound and which probe should be used foreach procedure
•Establish your skills to deliver a focused bed-side ultrasound study in the unwell patients•Focus on Chest, abdominal and vascular examination.
•Learn how to access difficult veins using ultrasound scanning
•Practice probe handling and positioning to obtain ultrasound images ofstructures
•Get your portfolio signed for the first 5-6 scans, so that you can get alongwith the rest of the logbook easily afterwards
