Join us for a circular Sunday lunch special over classic Western territory, hauled by D1015 'Western Champion', with a climb up the Lickey incline for dessert! Our special charity train, formed of all First Class carriages, will be a delightful dining special where our onboard team will serve you a freshly prepared three-course Sunday lunch in the comfort of your First Class seat. Please state any special dietary requirements in the 'Notes' section of your booking form.
Western Champion was built at Swindon Works in January 1963 and entered service in golden ochre livery, before a subsequent repaint to maroon with yellow panels. 1968 saw a transition in to BR blue with the usual full yellow ends. The return to main line operation is testament to the skill, hard work and diligence of the volunteers that care for her.
For the track enthusiast, highlights include Rowley Regis DGL, Droitwich UGL, Didcot West Curve, Gloucester New Yard Up & Dn Goods, Eckington UEGL and Up Spetchley Goods Loop.
There will be a charity raffle with all proceeds donated to the GBRf nominated good cause, Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity. All profits from this charter will also be donated to the charity.
We are very grateful to our friends from the Diesel Traction Group for supporting this charity excursion. You can find out more about the loco by visiting www.westernchampion.co.uk
