Family Track at MontCOMM '26
About this Event
Family Track is Back!
Family Track was so awesome last year, we’re bringing it back and opening it up to families statewide through remote access.
MontCOMM's Family Track provides families with resources and connections so they can better support their child's communication journey. Families will learn about alternative communication options, what an evaluation might look like, and the difference between a medical recommendation and a school recommendation. They'll also learn practical strategies for being a good communication partner for their child, and how to voice concerns with IEP teams.
Attendees will also hear lived experience from 13-year-old AAC user Himani and her mom Sabena, and will have space to visit with each other, sharing as much or as little as they wish.
In Missoula and online on August 13th, 12:30-4:30, this content is prepared specially for parents, guardians, grandparents, foster parents – anyone caring for someone with communication challenges!
Families who attend Family Track are welcome to attend MontCOMM for free on August 14th (also in person in Missoula or online).
Families attending in person in Missoula can apply for a scholarship to cover the registration fee. Apply for the MT Family to Family Scholarship or the Children's Special Health Services Scholarship ASAP.
Childcare is not provided for Family Track or MontCOMM, but children (of all ages) with diagnoses are most welcome to attend at no cost – as are any personal care staff they may need. ♥
Free access to MontCOMM through Family Track does not include continuing education/renewal credits. If you need OPI, MOTA, or ASHA credits for MontCOMM, you will need to buy your ticket through the MontCOMM '26 page.
