Discover and Explore at ARU’s Family Science Festival

Join us for an exciting day of hands-on science, creativity and discovery—perfect for curious minds of all ages.

New for this year – plan your day with bookable shows
To help create a better experience and reduce waiting times, some shows can now be bookable in advance as timed sessions throughout the day.

👉 How it works:

• Step 1: Book your festival entry time slot here on Eventbrite.
• Step 2: Once you’ve secured your entry time, use the links provided in the confirmation email to book individual shows you’d like to attend throughout the day.

This will help us manage capacity, reduce queues, and ensure you get to take part in the activities that matter most to you.

⏱ Please allow plenty of time between sessions
The Chelmsford campus is large, so we recommend leaving plenty of time to move between buildings when planning your schedule.

There will be plenty of drop-in activities, interactive shows and hands-on experiences happening taking place throughout the day.

Impossible Questions Show (aged 6+)

Supersonic Farts! (ages 3-11)

🔬What to expect at the Family Days

While our full programme is still being finalised, you can expect a fantastic mix of:

• Hands-on science workshops
• Interactive performances and live shows
• Creative activities and challenges
• Technology experiences including coding, VR, and AI
• Opportunities to meet real researchers and discover how science shapes our world
• A SENstation calm space will be available throughout the day
• A quieter, SEN-friendly session will run from 9.30am–10.30am (book separately via aru.ac.uk/events) There will be shows and activities taking place during this hour. Visitors attending this session are welcome to stay for the rest of the day.

ℹ️Important information

• Please book a ticket for each person attending, including adults and children
• Arrive within your selected entry time slot to allow time for check-in
• Show your tickets on arrival to collect a wristband
• Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times
• Ensure booked activities take place after your entry time slot and arrive early to all booked sessions
