Family Science Day 2026

Family Science Day is a FREE event, for people aged 4 to infinity!

Come and meet some real scientists!

Take part in some fascinating practical learning and experiments, with lots of experts on-hand to ask those tricky science questions and test your knowledge.

This year we've got a new location, new stalls, and new experts.

Offering a great range of activities, hosted by local scientists, allowing you to try all sorts of investigations!

You will have the opportunity to; learn about forensics and fingerprinting, discover how to use wildlife tracking equipment, uncover the fascinating world of elephants, and use virtual reality to check out how good you are at recognising faces in a crowd. And much more!

Admittance to Family Science Day will be by ticket only; Tickets are FREE. Due to high demand for this event, we sincerely ask that if you book a ticket but then are unable to go, that you cancel it to make the place available. There will be 2 time slots available from 11am-1pm and from 2pm-4pm. Places are available on a first come first served basis. You will need the ticket on the day, either printed, or on your phone, to be admitted.

If tickets are sold out before you are able to book one, do feel free to turn up on the day, either at 11am or 2pm to see if we have had any last-minute cancellations.

The event is being organised by Dorchester Town Council and Bournemouth University, with sponsorship from the Royal Society of Biology, the Institute of Physics, Dorchester Town Council and Wessex MAT.
