Family Farm Volunteer Day at The Battery Urban Farm: July

Join us at The Battery Urban Farm for some projects for all ages in the vegetable farm. This is a fun and active event for families looking to get outside and get dirty! Farm staff will lead participants in the tasks needed to keep our farm growing – this could include planting, weeding, spreading mulch, harvesting, and more. No experience is necessary. We recommend this event for ages 5 and up with adult supervision and participation; younger siblings are also welcome. Please note that we expect those bringing children to help out and work alongside them.

Tickets are free and required for this event. We offer two time blocks to choose from: 9:30am to 10:45am, or 11:00am to 12:15pm. You will be able to choose from available slots after clicking "Reserve a Spot". Please only select one time block for your visit.

We often have people sign up for tickets and then not show on the day of the event. With that in mind, if tickets are sold out but you'd still like to attend, you can visit us at the start of one of the time blocks and we'll do our best to include you. We can't guarantee that we'll have space, but we often do.

Please make an effort to arrive at the start of your selected time block, so you don't miss any instructions!

Location: Meet at the entrance to The Battery Urban Farm, marked on this map. Please note that Maps applications often misplace the farm entrance, so you should use these coordinates to help bring you to the meeting spot. Please also note that the northern side of the park is currently under construction, so you will need to enter the park along State Street (the map linked above outlines areas blocked off by construction).

What to bring: We will provide gloves for all participants, though you're welcome to bring your own if you have them. Please bring a water bottle and wear closed-toe shoes and any layers and sun protection you will need to be comfortable outside for the morning. This program will occur light rain or shine; in the event of inclement weather, participants will be e-mailed in advance with notice of any changes.

COVID-19 Policy for Events:

1. We encourage any event participants that are not vaccinated against COVID-19 to please wear a mask while participating in our public programs.
2. We ask that participants stay home if feeling sick or if they've had a known COVID-19 exposure in the last 5 days.
