Join Autumn Kioti, Beto Matheus & Clara Soloa for a fun, family-friendly bilingual birding adventure and nature scavenger hunt at Wakodahatchee Wetlands, one of South Florida’s best places to explore wildlife together.

Grab the kids, bring your curiosity, and step into the wild side of South Florida! This interactive adventure invites families to explore Wakodahatchee Wetlands through a guided birding walk paired with an engaging nature scavenger hunt designed for all ages.

With binoculars in hand and scavenger hunt clues to guide us, we’ll search for birds, plants, insects, and other wetland wonders—turning learning into a playful outdoor experience.

Wakodahatchee, meaning “created waters” in Seminole, is a 50-acre constructed wetland managed by Palm Beach County Water Utilities. Once unused land, it is now a vibrant ecosystem that supports an incredible diversity of wildlife.

More than 178 bird species have been recorded here, including herons, egrets, anhingas, purple gallinules, black-bellied whistling ducks, and many seasonal migrants. The three-quarter-mile elevated boardwalk winds through open water and marsh, offering close-up views of nesting birds, turtles, fish, and the occasional alligator.

During breeding season, families can often see nests filled with chicks just a few feet from the boardwalk—an unforgettable experience for young nature explorers.

This guided experience is designed especially for families with children, though nature lovers of all ages are welcome. Autumn Kioti and Clara Soloa will lead the group at a relaxed, kid-friendly pace, helping participants identify birds and wildlife while completing a nature scavenger hunt along the way.

We’ll pause often to observe, ask questions, and celebrate discoveries. No prior birding experience is needed—just a sense of adventure and a willingness to explore.

Whether it’s your child’s first time using binoculars or your family’s next outdoor tradition, this event offers a joyful way to connect with nature together.

Free entry and free parking
Parking may be limited during peak months (February through April). Please allow extra time and enjoy the surroundings while waiting for a space.

Registration is required. Walk-ins are allowed only if space permits.
If you cannot attend, please cancel early so another family may join from the waitlist.
