WANETTA PHILLIPS, Guest Instructor
Materials provided
Children and their families are invited to explore how artists use shape and color to create artistic patterns. The session will start with a tour of the quilt art exhibition, byCONTRAST: Apparent Contradictions. Then children will trace and cut out shapes from felt in various colors. Using glue, children will create patterns and their own works of art. Quilt artist and instructor Wannetta Phillips will introduce some traditional patterns and guide children in choosing their choice of colors, tracing the patterns, and then cutting and gluing. To close the workshop, children will title their
artwork and sign their names as artists. Time allowing, children can present their artwork to the group.
We thank the Trenton Arts Endowment Fund of Princeton Area Community Foundation for making it possible to offer our family workshops free of charge.
