About this Event

Friends of the Art Museum of the Americas (FAMA) invite you to our Members-Only Event: Enjoy refreshments from Tatte, networking, and brief remarks from OAS Ambassadors in the stunning sun-filled loggia. Adriana Ospina, director of the Art Museum of the Americas (AMA) will take us on an intimate tour of two current exhibitions on two floors that illustrate the richness of AMA’s collection. (The exhibitions will close later in January.)

We are limited to 25. If you or your guest are not already members of FAMA, you may join on Eventbrite in the ticket section or . Support cultural diplomacy locally and throughout the Americas!

Peruvian Perspectives: An Artistic Inquiry into the Collection of the Art Museum of the Americas This exhibition brings together works by Peruvian artists from the Museum's collection. Peruvian art has skillfully transformed its ancestral heritage into a constant source of innovation and creativity. In every stroke, shape, and color, we discover voices that connect the local with the universal, the intimate with the collective.

Peru’s contribution to American and global art lies not only in the uniqueness of its aesthetic expression but also in its ability to reveal the human condition in its broadest dimension: our shared hopes, tensions, and dreams. These works invite us to recognize ourselves as part of a cultural tapestry that enriches the American identity across our hemisphere.

The Making of Democracy “The Permanent Missions of Brazil, Uruguay, Colombia, Chile, and the Permanent Observer Mission of Spain to the Organization of American States (OAS), in collaboration with the Art Museum of the Americas (AMA) and the Columbus Memorial Library, present this exhibition that is framed within the commemoration of 50 years of democracy in Spain, 40 years of democracy in Uruguay, and the Democracia Siempre initiative, bringing together the perspectives of these countries on
their processes of democratic recovery and strengthening.
"The Making of Democracy" refers to the collective construction of democratic awareness: a process that does not end, but is renewed with each generation. With this exhibition, the Missions to the OAS pay tribute to the voices that, through art and memory, have contributed to preserving the very essence of democracy. Learn more from the online catalog available in Spanish, English and Portuguese.
The Art Museum of the Americas —a privileged witness to the continent’s aspirations and struggles— becomes a space where history, reflection, and hope converge.

We look forward to seeing you soon at AMA!
