Fall Prairie Seed Walk

Go on a Fall Prairie Seed Walk. Celebrate the beauty of autumn while learning the art of seed collecting on this guided prairie hike at Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge, located 30 minutes east of Des Moines. Join Botanical Garden and NSNWR staff for a casual walk to explore local landscapes, identify native plants, and discover proper techniques for collecting and utilizing seeds for future planting. Gain insight into prairie plant lifecycles, seed dispersal, and the importance of preserving native species. Participants will collect, process, and take home some native prairie seeds!
