Chicago FarmWorks' Fall Open House

Come visit us at our Fall Open House event happening at 407 N Kedzie Ave on October 15th from 10:00AM to 4:00PM. During this open house, residents will get the opportunity to:

1. Learn more about the farm and how we are developing this greenspace.
2. Participate in some light gardening activities from 2pm to 4pm
3. Take home some free fall produce grown right on the farm!*
4. Give feedback on how this community green space can be developed to best benefit the neighborhood.

We will also provide information on how to get involved at our two farm locations through our community gardening program and our regular volunteer opportunities. No tickets are required for this event, but your RSVP helps us to gauge possible attendance and prepare accordingly.

*Please note: The free produce is in limited supply. We will be distributing produce items on a first come first serve basis with limited items given per individual and/or household.

A bit more about us: FarmWorks is an urban farm that is part of the non-profit organization Heartland Human Care Services (HHCS). Farmworks operates two farm locations in Chicago's East Garfield park neighborhood, where we grow, harvest, and then distribute local produce of the highest quality to those who need it most. We currently partner with local organizations Breakthrough and Our Lady of the Angels, donating the bulk of our produce to their ongoing food pantry programs.

Through the HHCS Workforce Development Program, we also support people who are working to overcome multiple barriers to employment to secure full-time, permanent, viable jobs by helping them build job skills as part of our FarmWorks' team. Because of the hard work of these participants and the dedicated volunteers who show up for our mission, we are able to make fresh, nutritious food more accessible to East Garfield Park residence.
