This will be a down river float open to all paddle craft.
Our put-in spot will be the boat ramp under Asheville Hwy Bridge in east Knoxville
Our take-out spot will be Ned Mcwherter Landing in downtown Knoxville.
This trip will be roughly 10 miles with several possible stopping points to eat lunch. Partly cloudy with high of 76 is the forecast. I would recommend easily removable/breathable layers, a lunch/snacks and plenty of hydration stuff.
We will meet at Ned Mcwherter around noon and shuttle as many boats/boards & folks to the put in. I will have my truck & trailer.
Lots of the bigger trees are just now turning so we should have some beautiful Fall colors to take in. The Holston will probably be fairly slack on current so paddling will be required. This trip will wind thru the last few scenic miles of the Holston River and we will continue down thru the confluence of The Holston/French Broad Rivers and pick up The Tennessee River at its headwaters. We will take The Tennessee into Knoxville.
There are several islands I know of that we can stop & eat lunch. We can sort that out amongst ourselves, day of trip.
Also, some paddlers may need to transport certain styles of watercraft on their own. Feel free to meet us at the put in around 1. We will leave a boat watch at Ned while we gather up vehicles at the end of the trip.
