Fall Equinox Yoga & Sound Bath
About this Event
Fall Equinox Yoga & Sound Bath
There is a particular kind of beauty in the beginning of fall.
Summer carries an outward energy. Longer days. Vacations. Travel. Time outside. More spontaneity. We often do things in summer that we don't make room for during the rest of the year.
And then September arrives. School has begun. Schedules return. The light starts to change. There is still plenty to do, but the energy feels different. We begin to settle in.
For thousands of years, the autumn season has been connected to the harvest - gathering what has grown, enjoying the fruits of our labor and preserving what will nourish us through the colder months ahead.
I grew up in the Midwest, so that rhythm feels very tangible to me. Harvest wasn't simply an ending. It was an active, purposeful time. You gathered. You canned. You froze. You prepared.
There’s something about that rhythm that feels relevant to our lives, too.
The Fall Equinox - “equal night” - offers a natural moment to notice. We begin moving toward longer nights and the quieter, darker months of the year.
What has grown in this last season?
What are you craving now?
What is worth gathering and saving for future use?
Join Nicole Ouwenga-Scott of Creative Thread and Melissa of Zen Momma on the beach in Santa Monica for an evening of movement, sound and sunset as we greet the new season.
Melissa will guide us through an accessible yoga practice - a chance to move, breathe and come back into the body. Then Nicole will invite you to settle into the sand for a deeply restful sound bath with Tibetan singing bowls, chimes, drum and other instruments as the sun begins to set over the Pacific.
No previous yoga or sound bath experience is needed.

Arrive at 5:15 PM to set up and get comfortable
We begin at 5:30 PM
We’ll meet on the beach at Tower 26 in Santa Monica. Come down the wooden walking path toward the water and you'll find us on the left side.
What to bring
Bring a yoga mat or large beach towel for movement and whatever will make you comfortable when we settle in for the sound bath - a blanket, layers, pillow, eye covering, water and warm socks are all welcome. The temperature can change quickly as the sun goes down.
Plan to move first, then settle in.
This gathering is donation-based, with a suggested donation of $20 per person. We want this to be an accessible way to come together, mark the changing season and spend an evening by the ocean.
A little movement.
A lot of sound.
The changing light.
And a moment to notice what this season is asking of you.
A simple, beautiful way to greet Autumn.
