Jesse Zink was raised and ordained in St. John’s. Now serving as principal of a theological college in Montreal, he will be at St. John’s in person in December to read from and talk about his new book, Faithful, Creative, Hopeful: Fifteen Theses for Christians in a Crisis-Shaped World. The book focuses on what Christian witness needs to look like at a time of economic inequality, climate change, human migration, and other “crises” in our world. Jesse will also be talking about how figures from St. John’s past continue to influence his thinking today. Please join us!

If you can’t wait until December to learn more about this book, you’re also very welcome to join Christianity in a Crisis-Shaped World: A Webinar and Online Book Launch on Wednesday, November 20, from 7:30pm to 9pm. Join the Most Rev. Anne Germond, Acting Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada, and the Rev. Michael Blair, Moderator of the Commission on World Mission and Evangelism of the World Council of Churches, for an online discussion of Faithful, Creative, Hopeful.
The webinar is free and open to all. To join, please sign up online and you’ll be sent the Zoom link: https://montrealdio.ca/faithful-creative-hopeful/
The Rt. Rev. Robert Hirschfeld, Bishop of New Hampshire, says of Faithful, Creative, Hopeful: “These theses present a way of finding God’s insistent vision for a church in need of thinking—no, of living!—bigger and with more hope than we have dared to in recent generations. An astute and resolutely clear-eyed student of both church and society, Zink presents the world-saving eschatological promise of the gospel of Jesus Christ while avoiding gimmick or game. Indeed, we have little time for such distractions in these last days.”
