Faith Forged A Nation
About this Event
America has seen triumph and trial, yet through it all, God has remained sovereign. Join us as we look back on the people and events that shaped our nation, hear the stories of our founding fathers who trusted in God’s providence through some of America’s defining moments, and consider how we can learn from the past to faithfully serve God and our neighbors in our own time.

Talk One - John Witherspoon: The Pastor Who Signed

Talk Two - Isaac Backus: The Dissenter's Fight for Conscience

He argued from Scripture that true faith cannot be compelled by the state, and his convictions helped shape the religious liberty Americans take for granted today.

Talk Three - Patrick Henry: The Orator's Conviction
Info: Remembered for “give me liberty or give me death,” Henry was a devout Anglican who gave away apologetics books and left his family a will commending the Christian faith above any inheritance. He believed that free government could not survive without virtue and religion, a conviction that put him on the side of Baptist dissenters but also set him against Jefferson and Madison.

Talk Four - Peter Muhlenberg: From Pulpit to Battlefield
Info: A Lutheran pastor in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley, Muhlenberg wrestled with how his calling as a minister of the gospel fit with a colony moving toward war. His story asks what faithful obedience looked like for a man of God when the moment came to choose, and what that choice cost him.

Talk Five - George Washington: The General and His Faith
Info: Washington was a lifelong Anglican vestryman who spoke often of Providence, yet his private beliefs remain hard to pin down. We are setting aside both the pious legend and the skeptic's caricature, and asks what we can actually see of a faith that sustained a man through Valley Forge and beyond.
