It's quirky, it’s cruisy, it’s best done in flats. FABULOUS!…is a Newcastle queer walking tour with Richard Bliss.
About this Event

Fabulous! the LGBTQIA+ History Walk is a guided walk around the centre of Newcastle City. The tour shares undisputed facts with a peppering of fiction to imagine what queer life in the North East might have been like from the 16th to the 21st centuries. Just a few of highlights are;

• Discovering the incredible Ethel Williams and her ‘wife’ Frances Hardcastle

• Hearing how Gateshead was the home of an Edwardian trans-activist

• Learning how Durham was the first place in Britain to elect an out gay Councillor

…and much more.

The tour starts at Times Square (meeting point corner of Times Square opposite The Yard Bar) at 10.30am and ends at City Library at 12.15pm. The tour is approximately two miles avoiding as many obstacles as possible (such as steps and stairs but it includes being stationary for periods of up to 10 minutes). Taking approximately 1hr 30 minutes, the tour is suitable for visitors who can make their way through the City unaided, or with the aid of their own assistants. There are some roads to cross, but the tour does not enter any buildings.
