FABRIC AS NARRATIVE: BATIK + NATURAL DYE w/ DRISHTI JAGGI
About this Event
Using wax-resist techniques, participants will learn how to design and create patterns on fabric while exploring the relationship between material, memory, and storytelling.
The workshop emphasizes experimentation, cultural appreciation, and hands-on learning, making batik approachable for beginners while still engaging for those with prior textile experience. Participants will be guided through the full batik process right away from sketching ideas and applying wax resist, to layering natural or fabric-safe dyes, and finally revealing their finished textile piece.
Alongside technical instruction, the workshop encourages participants to reflect on personal or collective narratives they wish to express through pattern, symbolism, and color.
