Explore loose, expressive watercolor techniques in this four-day immersive workshop with nationally recognized artist and instructor Janet Rogers. Designed for all levels, this dynamic workshop builds confidence and spontaneity while guiding artists from florals into faces and figures.
The workshop begins with fresh flowers in the studio, focusing on intuitive color mixing and expressive brushwork. As the week progresses, students transition into painting faces and figures through guided demonstrations, supportive drawing aids, and step-by-step exercises that make working with people approachable and fun.
Participants will learn how to create luminous flesh tones, capture gesture, avoid muddy color, preserve the white of the paper, and develop strong, expressive compositions. Artists may work from their own reference photos or use images provided by the instructor. The workshop concludes with figure-focused exercises and a group critique/show-and-tell, offering insight, encouragement, and personalized feedback.
This workshop emphasizes experimentation, confidence-building, and individual guidance in a welcoming, no-fear learning environment.

Instructor: Janet Rogers
Janet Rogers is a nationally recognized watercolor artist with over 45 years of professional experience. She holds Signature Member status in the American Watercolor Society, Transparent Watercolor Society of America, and Florida Watercolor Society, among others. Janet has taught workshops throughout the United States and Europe, produced four instructional DVDs, and has been featured in numerous publications, including The One Hour Watercolorist. Her demonstrations are also available online, and she continues to teach both in person and virtually.
